Couldn't find installable ISAM --how do I install ISAM?....

...OTHER THAN "Re-installing MS Office", which I've tried.

I'm using Access 97. How do I just install the Excel ISAM driver for exporting to excel file format from Access? I get the error message in the subject when doing a docmd.transferspreadsheet.

The harddisk is tired from a morning full of uninstall/re-install, and I'm thoroughly frustrated.

I've tried un-installing/re-installing:
just Access,
just Excel,
just Database Drivers,
entire MS Office suite,
Mdac,
Visual Studio 6.0.

There has got to be a way to simply plop a file into a directory and hack in a registry entry to make MS Access export to Excel format. Can anyone help? I used to have no problem exporting to Excel, but sometime between a week ago and today I am no longer able to do so, and no major episode has happened with my system.

The "installable ISAM" problem is a pain--it shows up with ADO Access provider too. My guess: If you installed Acc97 first and then the other apps one of the files was overwritten by other newer apps and Acc97 is looking for the older version.

Have you tried the MS Knowledge Base? I don't have URL, but there are some good pages with info on file/dll versions for various Access-related items (seach "Jet Service Packs" or "Access dll version", etc.). The table below came from one of those pages and lists the file versions that change w/ service packs alone. :-0

Also: You might post this question in one of the OS forums, where the System Engineers are.

Thanks all,
What I did was log onto my home machine, (I'm at office) and check the registry. I know the place to look is
Hklm\software\microsoft\jet\3.5

I looked in ISAM Formats, and my home machine had many more lines than the office one, so I exported that key to my office machine, and ran it, and I'm fine now.

For anyone who may come across this, here is the .reg file (for win2k/XP):
