I want to use illustrator to rotoscope images ( trace over photos from p-shop )

is this the way to go ( i want small file size images - my originals are 2-8mb at a5 size. )

is it simple/straight forward ? ( assuming i have a tablet draing tool thingy )

am i mad ( ive got around 800 images to butcher )

answers on a postcard ( a nice big a0 one )

800 images?! Good Luck!

You might speed things up using something like Streamline or Flash, but if file size is your only concern, you should look at getting the most out of compression. For example, create an action in Photoshop that simplifies the image and saves it as a JPEG or PNG. Get the settings right and run a batch with that action. Better to let the computer do all the work, right?
