I was given a 3com Super Stack II 500 24-port 10/100 hub by a friend who was replacing it with a switch.. he never used the management features of the hub and doesn't remember who he got it from. We have spent the good part of a day trying to get at the thing but with no luck. The console port seems to be active but locks up the computer we plug it to :s .. when we plug it into my linux server and use minicom to try to access it we still get nothing but every time I press enter the 100mbps light on the hub flashes. We thought of trying to get at it from the network but have no clue what it's IP is.
The only information we have on it is the MAC address and the name of the thing.
Any info/advice anyone has would be greatly appreciated.

TIA

Hi TIA,

The serial port of a superstack II dual speed hub 500 is only use to update the software (image file).
If you want manage it, you need to buy a management module.

The part number is 3C16685.

Regards,

smc.
