I Have a problem with a palm vx not synching with Outlook 2000 on a windows xp professional desktop. It tries connecting but is unsuccessful, and no information is written to the log. The user of this plam has actually tested this with another palm and cradle to see if it is the Palm or the cradle or cable, and got the same result (when we should at least have gotten a message that the user name is incorrect or something to show a connection had been made). He even got a replacement Palm from Palm directly and got the same result. Synchronization worked until about October 25. He also uninstalled and reinstalled hotsync to no avail. We are wondering if it could be a com port problem even though the device manager does not show anything wrong. I tried changing the transmission rate on com1 from "As fast as possible" to 19200 and then to 9600, to no avail. The desktop is about a year old, so I don't think it is a bios issue.
Can anyone offer any suggestions? Can you recommend any utility for testing the com port on an xp?
Thanks!

Could be wrong, but to sync with Outlook, I believe you need to install PocketMirror which may be on one of the CDs that came with your Palm.

Did you ever find out how to test a com port in xp? I am having a problem just like you however my screen initiates connect with palm but connection dies after going thru only a few directories. Would like to know if com port is working correctly?
