Hi -
I am fairly new to Mas90, but have done alot with Peachtree. Anyways, the computer at work that has MAS-90, died, I have all the data files we use: glxxx and apxxx , I also saved the whole MAS-90 folder.
I need to install version 3.60 again on a new computer and inport this data. I have gotten 2 views on how to do this, I am not sure which one to use:

1) install using the same company id (ex-tpi for us) and then copy over the gltpi and aptpi folders with the data I saved ...or

2) copy the whole mas-90 folder to the new machine and run wk setup or something like that...this second way confuses me.

Any advice is greatly appreciated in advance!

This is really quite simple;
(1) Install your newest version of MAS90
(2) Go into MAS90 and create the company codes that you
had previously--don't worry about setting up anything relevant for data--you are going to overwrite it anyway.
(3) Copy the data over. MAS90 stores it's data under directories by application and company code. So (A)ccounts (R)eceivable data for company ABC will be under the ARABC directory. For example, copy the files from the old ARABC directory into the new one, overwritting any existing files.
(4) Go back into MAS90, go into company maintenance, and click on the "Convert" button. It should then run through all the data files and upgrade what it needs do.

This will get you about 95% of your data. Here's the type of stuff you'll be missing:
(1) User codes
(2) Form information (i.e. how an invoice looks when it prints, etc). These will print using the default forms.
(3) Tax codes/classes/schedules. These are stored in the SY_0?.SOA directory in the MAS90/SOA directory. Copy these over & you'll be good to go with these.

Hope this helps!
