Our CFO is bringing in an outside party to analize our tariffs. Has anyone dealt with them or a similar company? They usually want 50% of the savings they find.

They are a good company. To save money, you as an administrater can produce the same type of records, using DSA,ASA or the standard list measurements commands on the switch.

The DSA and ASA software can do trunk analysis just like these guys. They may stick a buffer box on your system and analyse the traffic. DSA/ASA does this via the switch information. They can look at Bell equipment records and see what lines you have. You can order these records from your telco and see the same thing.

If you have BCMS or ACD software on your switch, you may also turn on the measurements for internal in all the trunk groups and produce interval and daily usage reports of your trunking using the list BCMS trunk xx reports.

Just some other items to consider, if you wish to do this yourself, and make yourself look good to the CFO by saving him/her even more of that 50%

I can only say read their contract VERY carefully. Sometimes it will state, for a period of time, if they suggest something, like a long distance vendor change and you do change down the road, you would still owe them the savings. Even though it might be 10 months later.

I can also say, that since we scrutinize our bills, the company was not able to find ANYTHING and made no money off of our company. I was SO happy!
