I am having problems establishing a VPN tunnel between a XPRS2 and Linksys BEFVP41 router to router configuration. The SA names match, the pre-shared secret's match, they point to each other's subnets and the BEFVP41 tunnel points to the first WAN public IP on the XPRS2.

Is there anyone who has been successful at this router to router config for establishing a VPN tunnel? If so, please provide specifics on how to set this up.

Thanks!

You should upgrade Linky to firmware level 1.40.3d, Jul 02 2002 in order to get it working assuming Linky is in dynamic IP. Sonicwall should have 6.2 up firmware

The firmware on the Linksys is 1.40.3d and the sonicwall has 6.3.1.0 firmware. Did you use IKE or configure a manual key for your tunnel config between the two routers?

I use IKE. If your Linky is in dynamic IP you should use aggressive mode and supply Sonic Unique Firewall Identifier ( default=Sonic MAC ) to Linky "user name" field. SA names do not have to match.

If Linky is in static the main mode should do the job.

The public IP of Sonic should be the actual WAN IP of the box.

Anything in the logs of the boxes?
