We have a System 75 R1V3N (2 rack cabinet) and are looking to upgrade it so we can add a T1-PRI and DID for E911. I have 1 vendor that thinks they can replace the "A" shelf and change processor and a couple boards and make it G3i. Has anybody done this or know if it will work.

TIA

Yes you are correct. Replace the A carrier, new processor and a couple of new common control boards and you have a new switch. All of your old circuit packs will work also!

Thanks
Chris

Our system used to be a system 75. We upgraded it to a release 5 G3SI. He's right you do just have to upgrade those parts if you want to upgrade to a G3, but if you want to upgrade to release to your cabnet must be upgraded too. Atleast mine does anyways. A business partner should be able to tell you exactly what parts must be upgraded.

Dustinn3 -- What do you mean "but if you want to upgrade to release to your cabnet
must be upgraded too."

sorry, I guess I should've proof read it. When we got our upgrade price it included upgrading the actual cabinet. According to the release 10 documentation our cabinet isn't compatible with release 10. Also, some of the carriers aren't compatible with the release.
