How to transfer to an extension with no Audix mailbox

The problem is: how to use the Intuity Audix auto-attendant to answer calls, but to be able to allow a caller to transfer to an extension without an Audix Mailbox. This is a problem, because many of our users don't require a mailbox, yet I always need to set one up to allow a caller to transfer to that extension. We have a Definity G3si, release 9.5, and latest platform/software of Audix.
Do I need to use up my mailboxes for this, or can I use the switch to be the auto-attendant, and then let it do the transfer?

Thanks.

You need to contact Denver (Avaya) and have them change the field on page 3 of the System Parameters Features in your Intuity "Transfer Restriction" from Subscriber to Digits. There is a security concern here with Toll Fraud, and they will confirm with you that you really want to do this. There is generally no charge for this service, however they may charge you to turn it back to Subscriber if down the road you no longer need it.

Hope this helps,
Chris

Thanks, Chris. That does help. I suppose that would be a security risk, but I wonder if there would be a way to restrict the Intuity to dialing only 4-digit extensions, for example, in the Definity, say through COR or some other method, so that no one could request a transfer to an outside line or long distance...

Anyway, this answers the question.
Thanks again.

Well sure... you can define this in your machine profile for the Intuity. Just put in the range of numbers you want the Intuity to be able to transfer to. The risk is if people forward a lobby phone off site, coverage remote, etc..(generally unlikely, but...) and someone chooses that extension from the auto-attendant.

Good Luck...

Regards,
Chris

Right, I forgot about the ranges in Intuity -- I'm not up to speed on Audix I'm afraid. Anyway, the forwarded-off-net lobby phone is a problem, but much less exposure with that scenario than transferring from the Intuity directly.

Thanks again!

actually there's an easier way to do this ... type "list cos" to see if you have one that says "No VM". If so, you simply add the extension to the Audix with this COS. If not, change one of your unused COS by typing "cha cos <x>" where <x> is the one you are going to change. These are the settings:

CLASS OF SERVICE

Name: E COS Number: 11 Modified? y
Addressing Format: extension

Login Announcement Set: System
System Multilingual is OFF Call Answer Primary Annc. Set: y
Call Answer Language Choice? n Call Answer Secondary Annc. Set: System

PERMISSIONS
Type: none Announcement Control? n Outcalling? n
Priority Messages? n Broadcast: none IMAPI Access? n
IMAPI Message Transfer? n Fax Creation? n Trusted Server Access? n

On Page 2:
CLASS OF SERVICE

INCOMING MAILBOX Order: fifo Category Order: nuo
Retention Times (days), New: 0 Old: 0 Unopened: 0

OUTGOING MAILBOX Order: fifo Category Order: unfda
Retention Times(days),File Cab: 0 Delivered/Nondeliverable: 0

Voice Mail Message (seconds), Maximum Length: 0 Minimum Needed: 0
Call Answer Message (seconds), Maximum Length: 0 Minimum Needed: 0

End of Message Warning Time (seconds):

Maximum Mailing Lists: 0 Total Entries in all Lists: 0
Mailbox Size (seconds), Maximum: 0 Minimum Guarantee: 0

Now you can just use this cos as a placeholder so your autoattendant will recognize the extension.
