I have a subscriber who is on medical leave for six weeks. I have set up her account as an autoattendant so callers can chiise to be forwarded to her co-worker. I would like to set her account so that no one can leave messages for her. Can this be done?

Thanks,

You could set the missing associates mailbox to BULLETIN BOARD instead of CALL ANSWER. A mailbox set as bulletin board does not allow the user to leave a message after listening to the greeting that might get overlooked. You sound like you have already made her mailbox an AUTO ATTENDANT though. You cannot do both. What about just call forwarding that extension to the covering person?

phonepd,

I tried that but can't figure out how I can have the forwarded calls go into the other users voicemail box if no one picks up. That't why I am using autoatt. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Ken Johnson

Ken a call will not follow 2 cover paths. At the first cover point send the call to a vdn then to a vector which will then go to a covering extension. This way will fool it into going to the second cover path. Wisdom is Knowledge

Thats true. I do not think you can make the message go to the covering persons mail box. At least I do not know how.
If you have available lighted button on the covering person phone you can add a AUT-MSG-WT button with the missing person extension and this will show the cover person that there is a message in the other mailbox. Then change the password to allow the cover person access to that mailbox. If you have enough CALL APPEARANCE buttons you could add BRIDGED APPEARANCE (brdg-appr) buttons to the covering phone. But you would accomplish the same thing with the extension call forwarded and the message waiting light on the phone.
Isn't it fun to try to make technology fix personnel problems?

You can forward the call and put the forwarded number in as the "secondary ext" in the co-workers' vmail subscriber form. When the call goes to cover, it will reach the co-workers mailbox. You will need to delete the mailbox for the person who is out before the system will let you reuse the extension as a secondary ext in the coworkers mailbox.

Worse case you can always forward using remote coverage and dialing the full telephone number of the extension you want to forward to .... i.e. 9, 5551212 ... This will allow the coverage extension's voice mail to accept the call if not answered. The major problem with this (not counting using an outgoing trunk AND additional incoming trunk for one call ) is you will not get an indication of the origional station number which was called.

I think that you should go with the auto attendant. It's less clunky than the vdn, vector, etc... If your messaeg notes that the person is out it should tell the caller to press 1(?) for immediate assistance. Pressing 1 has the transfer condition in the auto attendant. Once the call is transfered it will follow the coverpath of the number associated with the 1.
