Hey all -

Anybody know how I can get craft-level permissions for my login? We've just recently added a new DS1, and I cant change framing or anything on it. I can get as far as busyout board 01b08, but i need to be able to busyout DS1 01b08, and change it. The error i get is "cannot be changed while ports assigned".

We had to pay $50 for the busyout command itself a few years back..is there a way around this? If we bought the busyout command - i'd think we should have access to all busyout arguments as well.

Basically - i need a craft login, and need to dump my super-user limited permissions. Anybody know what this costs or who I can schmooze at avaya to get them to elevate them? I cant keep calling expanets and have their tech login with dadmin to make these changes as we're in a testing phase with a fax server right now throught the PBX. I need to set the DIP switches on the fax board to match the tie trunk - and I want a specific setup - but cant change what expanets set originally.

Thanks in advance. pbxman

What you are describing is not permissions level restricted. You can make the change, just not while you have ports on the board assigned to a trunk group (or signalling group). The error you are getting has nothing to do with your login. There is an optional system feature called DS1-MSP to let you change DS1 parameters without removing the members. It does give a nasty warning about corrupting your software when you try though? -CL

Yeah - the dadmin user can change it with the trunks still assigned, and i'd like to do the same. It would be a pain to remove and re-add the trunk members everytime i want to change a setting.

Since myself (super-user) has to go the difficult route, and dadmin gets all the easy-access..i'd want that changed :) I've watched the dadmin login do this very step:
"busy ds1 01b08", then "ch ds1 01b08" and save.

I cant busy DS1 in the first place..i have to use "busy board 01b08", then "ch ds1 01b08", but I cannot save any changes..i get the ports assigned error.

Maybe im just nit-picking, but dangit - i hate not having the tools i need to do whats required for my job! :)
I know about DS1-MSP..probably need Avaya to turn that up to get access to these commands too. I just figured if i could issue a "ch ds1" (which i can) - it was already active for me.

Maybe thats not the case after all.
Thanks for the help lopes1211 - but im not giving up yet :p pbxman

You can check it on your "disp system cust" screen to see if it's active. The do a "disp permissions XXXX" where XXXX is your login. Look for the "enhanced DS-1" option feild.

Shoot.

Well DS1 MSP isn't active, and I dont have enhanced DS1 permissions.

So my options are probably to pay avaya a bunch of $$$ to get those turned-up, or remove the trunk members and try again?

Ugh.
Thanks for the insight lopes1211 - awesome job. pbxman
