Hi all

I've just received a Callmaster V as an evaluation unit. We want to replace about 200 Callmaster IIIs.

I've aliased the phone as a 6416D+ and as the manual insists (we're running G3V6r3), given it a headset on/off button, and that's where the fun starts. Turning the headset on opens a line up and starts dialtone.

All we need is for the headsets to be permanently on, no speakerphone, no handsets, just phones which agents login to - just like the Callmaster IIIs, but without looking like antiques.

Any suggestions ?

Thanks

Pete

I'll call it a bug. The Callmaster V requires a button to be programmed for headset even if you want it active 100% of the time (even on R10). Even worse, if auto-answer is setup, depressing the headset button will log the agent out since the phone thinks it has no headset at that point and therefore no way to auto-answer a call. A 6416D+ is identical but has a handset? Other than the lack of RIM, the 6416D+ seems to be more phone for less money. The Callmaster uses a Straight Plantronics heaset cable for about $10 instead of the $30 cable needed for the 6416 which contains an extra resistor. Personally, I think the $20 difference in the cable is worth it since you get a 2-way speaker + a handset for $50 less with the 6416D+. -CL

Actually the the Callmaster V is a 603A1 type.
Set it up like that and I'll think your problems are solved.
You could try only a release button instead of the headset button, but I'm not sure if that works for you.

Good luck!

Michel.

Normally when you program the CallMaster V as the 603A1 as what Michel described you will see that are two buttons fixed on the station. Button 9 will be the Headset and button 16 will be the Release. You will be able to program it like a 6416D+, but somehow you still will need these two buttons. The only thing is that programming it like a 6416, you will be free to program the Headset- and Release-button as it pleases you..

Hope this helps,

John

A callmaster V can be programmed using a variety of set types just as any other digital set can be programmed. At the end of the day, you still end up with a 6416D+ missing the handset and 2-way speaker, but with an added RIM. It was a hokey product at best that Avaya seemed to have shoe-horned in with little engineering or actual foresight. I would still recommend the 6416D+M to give you more phone for less money. -CL
