Hey everyone, running into an odd issue I've never seen before.
Any time we try to run a report at one of our workstations, the report executes fine, but never prints to the printer.
In the 3700d.log we see the following lines indicating a certificate problem:

Code:
Tue Dec 21 10:06:45 2021 | MICROSVM | PcPrint.dll | 0 | Verify MDS configuration; web server configuration and web server on node is available |
Tue Dec 21 10:06:45 2021 | MICROSVM | PcPrint.dll | 0 | Cannot communicate with printing service [c70700d7] |
Tue Dec 21 10:06:45 2021 | MICROSVM | Autosequence.dll | 0 | ReleaseMutex( g_hmutex ) |

Additionally, when we Reload the database there are a ton of MDS Certificate problems when trying to push certain files. Some seem to push fine but others do not. For example, MDSHosts.xml is pushed correctly. However, the HOSTS file, MDSPrinters.xml, do not seem to update on the clients.

That said I have tried everything I know to try and fix the issue, but keep having the same problem.
Rebooted server
Rebooted all clients
Double checked the printer configuration
Double checked the node was pingable
Ensured firewall was disabled
Regenerated MDSHosts.xml
Re-CALed the workstation
Manually deleted certs folder and MDSHosts.xml then re-adopted client
Removed the MDS HTTP Service and re-installed it on server then re-adopted all clients
Changed the transport key, rebooted server, rebooted and re-adopted all clients.

None of these has made any difference. Once I get a workstation re-adopted and CALed I always see those same lines in the log and cant get the autosequence to print. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Forgot to mention we are running RES 3700 5.7.8

I had a similar issue that a couple printers would not print reports but receipts fine. My fix was I found someone playing in workstation printer settings had changed the assigned printer under to workstation reports to blank. So report executed but went nowhere.

Unfortunately, all the printer programming looks good. The workstation is selected as the print destination.
The check prints fine, and the reports is set to the same printer (the same workstation).

From what I can tell, it seems like the server is not able to use nodes other than itself to print.
Like I can print from the server to our IP printers because they all use the server node for communication. However, the server cannot print to any of the workstations as that would get directed to the workstation node, and is rejecting the servers ssl cert.

Tonight, I am going to try and delete the servers SSL certs and regenerate them. Just like I have had to do with workstations in the past.
Just doesn't make sense how the servers certs would be messed up, however looking that the cert files, they were all last modified 2019.

I attached a little bit more log, so you can see the workstation is the destination it is trying to send to and that the SSL certificate fails. (No Header)
