Hopefully I can explain this clearly:

We have 2 combined DS1/PRI's that our main call center number (DID) comes in on. In the vector menu, I have a step where pressing 1 routes the call to an outside number (Third Party Vendor) that handles our Bill pay. This however ties up one of the 46 PRI Bearer channels until the customer hangs up. Does anyone know a way that I can route to this outside number and release it from taking up trunk resources? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can only do that at the carrier level and do this before it hits your equipment , if you are routing in and out of your CM this behaviour will always be there.

ACSS (UC/SBCE/SM/SME)

Not that they mean a thing anymore , get a brain dump pass the test crash the system.

I was afraid that was the case, thanks for your prompt reply, much appreciated

Correction it ties up 2 trunks until the call is disconnected, 1 for the inbound and 2 for the transferred outbound to the 3rd party

Yes you are correct, thankfully I have it ars ana routing out another trunk that isn't utilized for our incoming call center. So it is tying up two channels but not on the same important trunk. I'm in the process now of ordering another PRI to add to the two incoming ones at our Call Center. Thank you all for your input. This truly is a great community.

I believe ATT can do this with a feature code sent to trunk) - but you'll have to check

Take Care

Matt
I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

Centurylink calls the feature 2 B Channel Call Transfer. Other carriers likely have a similar feature. It does cost extra but for us it was the better solution. It our case we prepend digits to the dial string to initiate the carrier transfer. I will add Avaya documentation when I am back in the office early next week if somebody doesn’t beet me to it. ;)

(Then again, somebody already did two days ago!)

AS coolwhisper said there are feature on the carriers that you can use for this. "Take back and Transfer" not sure what they call it now. but you would be charged for the feature and every call, not just the calls that use the feature. normal tied to a 8xx number, so there would be a feature charge for ever call to that 8xx number even if they do not use the "Take back and Transfer" Feature.
