Hi guys, just a simple question. Besides looking at the physical sticker on the server, is there any other way to know a particular media server's serial number?

i don't know of a way to see the S8300 serial number remotely. if you do the 'list media-gateway' command or the two linux prompt commands, you'll get the gateway serial number that the license uses to authorize CM to run.
i can't remember if the Installation/Upgrade Wizard from the web page of the server ever shows the server's serial number.

Thanks guys, sorry for the misleading title. It was supposed to read "server" instead of "gateway". I'll try bsh's tip on an S8510 and see if I could get anything.

s8300
linux:
cat /proc/serno

The best way to know is to telent in or ssh to the gateway and show system.

Thanks bsh, I'll try that one! By the way I forgot to mention that the gateway that's connected to the S8510 is a G650.

Tried bhs' command but it only displays the bios version for an S8510 and not the server serial number.

if it's a g650 then you will need the serial number of the ipsi board.

Sorry ken if you got mislead by the thread title. What I was actually asking is if there is a way to find the server's serial number without looking at the sticker attached to it.
