Hi Folks,

I'm not sure this is the right forum to address this problem but I'll start it here anyway. We have a number of Wyse Winterm thin clients of varying models and ages. We have MS Access based applications that these clients connect to under Windows Terminal Services. Some of the servers are W2K and others are W2003. All clients have the latest firmware and all servers are fully up to date.

The problem is that intermittantly the num lock key light on the keypad gets out of sync with the function on the keypad. One minute the user can be entering numbers quite happily on the numeric keypad the next the keys don't function as numbers at all yet the num lock key light is still on. Pressing num lock again at this point turns the light off but re-enables numbers on the keypad.

I've contacted Wyse, but their only advice is to update the terminals' firmware, which I've already done without any improvement.

Has anyone seen this problem before? Failing that, is there a way to force num lock to be permanently on for all TS clients?

Try the following

To enable NUM LOCK before a user logs on, use the steps below.

1. Run Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
2. Navigate to HKEY_USERS\.Default\Control Panel\Keyboard.
3. Change the value for InitialKeyboardIndicators from 0 to 2.
