I am working on a word document that I need to embedd a selection list into. The list needs to have 3 options as follows:

"A service fee of three-hundred ($300.00) shall be remitted to us prior to delivery of the electronic files"
"A service fee of five-hundred ($500.00) shall be remitted to us prior to delivery of the electronic files"
"A service fee of eight-hundred ($800.00) shall be remitted to us prior to delivery of the electronic files"

I used the AutoText feature which worked great, but I need these options available for all my users. Is their a way to embedd a drop down menu that they can select these otpions from within the Word Document. My other option is just to list the three and have a check box in front of each, but thats no fun.

Even a popup windows that appears when the document is opened asking them to selection the project size. This is the only part of th document that gets midified. Everything else is standard.

Any insight to this is appreciated.

Thank You

There are a number of possibilities.

1. You could have a userform with the items to select. Display the userform on document open.

2. An ActiveX combobox (dropdown) in the document with the items listed. ActiveX controls can be affected by Security settings, so that may be an issue, or not.

3. Add a menu item to a toolbar listing the selection choices. Selecting an item would fire a procedure to insert the relevant text.

Create a template, insert your list box, then you need to protect the document. Once protected, the list box is ready to go.

The form field option worked great.

Is there a way to allow mutiple characters for the drop down menu list? I need to inclde all the text:

A service fee of five-hundred ($500.00) shall be remitted to us prior to delivery of the electronic files

Thank You

Hi fsupport1600,

If you always have the strings "A service fee of " and " shall be remitted to us prior to delivery of the electronic files", then all you need is a drop-down field positioned between these for the valid values:
'three-hundred ($300.00)'
'five-hundred ($500.00)'
'eight-hundred ($800.00)'

Cheers

What does that mean? The items in a formfield dropdown have "multiple characters".

Why do you need the whole text?

I did not suggest formfields as you need to protect the document to use them, but they are great things.

I don't know about later versions, but to 2002, you can have up to 50 characters for an dropdown item. Which is reasonable. Having more is not very good design. That being said, you do not have this limitation with an ActiveX dropdown.
