How do I tell InstallShield to install 1 specific file in the "My Documents" folder?

I'm using VFP 9.0 and the bundled InstallShield program allows me to add files to system folders, such as: [AppDataFolder], [CommonFilesFolder], [ProgramFilesFolder], [SystemFolder]. I tried using [MyDocumentsFolder], but it just created a new folder under the root drive of C:\.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Dave Higgins

Hi Mike,

Thanks for your suggestion (on both the Tek-Tips and CS forums).

I wonder if the [PersonalFolder] is not available on InstallShield Express (which is shipped with VFP 9.0).

When I open InstallShield, I do the following:
First I Choose my InstallShield application
Next I Click on "Files" (in the category labeled "2. Specific Application Data"). I see the following folders (shaded in blue) under "Destination Computer": [AppDataFolder], [CommonFilesFolder], [ProgramFilesFolder], [SystemFolder].

But I don't see the [PersonalFolder].

I tried to create a folder called [PersonalFolder] under "Destination Computer", but it gave me the error message:
*** Field "Directory" of table "Directory": The new record duplicates primary keys of the existing record in a table ***

This message would lead me to believe that the folder [PersonalFolder] is present, but not visible .... Any ideas how to utilize it?
Note: If I create a folder called "PersonalFolder" (without the brackets), then it simply creates a folder under C:\

Again, thank you for your assistance.

Dave,

I'm looking at InstallShield Express Limited Edition for Visual FoxPro ver. 5.0. I believe this is the one that comes with VFP 9.0.

In the window that you described, if you right-click on "Destination Computer", can you see a menu of folders? If so, [PersonalFolder] should be one of those. Select it from the menu, and it should appear underneath Destination Computer, along with [AppDataFolder] and the others.

Mike

Hi Mike,

Your instructions were easy to follow and they worked like a charm!

This change will save me from having to walk my customers through the process of manually moving certain files to certain folders, which can be very time consuming.

Thank you very much.
