I have a problem with the zoombestfit. I have meticulously arranged all the unlabeled fields on my app to fit side by side with the lines exactly running accross. An example is the detail tab on this web page.

I noticed that when I switch to zoombestfit, everything is now unalligned. When I go to the 100% it fixes itself, but when I look at 400% I can see where the fields are unalligned. All the fields are the same height and were alligned with the toolbar under 100% viewing. I don't have them pinned down, and could pin down all the fields, the problem is that I have over 200 forms in the app, even simple changes app wide take time.

Thanks in advance, & great to see you here Tony!

What version of Paradox are you using?

Any Zoom setting in Paradox 10/11 is going to cause your users MAJOR headaches.

I've not heard about fields not lining up, but there will *definitely* be issues with the cursor appearing in the wrong place when a zoom setting is used.

Which Tony? :-D

I currently develop in 8 and deliver in 9. We have runtime 10 but havenot tested it for release for our clients, the move to 9 was too painfull, got to rewrite the margins for all of our reports and will have to do that again with 10.

What kind of headaches will I have and what other option is available for setting up the screen for easy viewing on different resolutions. In regards to the fields not lining up, I have had that problem with pdox since version 1.0, especially with reports. If you don't line up the fields closly or use labeled fields it is not a problem. I use unlabeled fields with the label being a separate text box. Pdox treats these differently and when you switch views they misalign/realign. Very frustrating. We selected a certain page size and field height and then went to great care to make sure that everything lined up on 100% view. Now we are switching to a zoom best fit to get a better view on the 19" and 20" LCD's that our clients are buying. They love the extra room for their spreadsheets, but can't see the screen for AP and Payroll entry.

Thanks

Have you thought about grouping your field object and its label text box?

I do the same thing, but I do group the field and text box in most cases. Then they always move together.

Another thing that people are doing, due to the zoom issues with Paradox 10.

Create as many versions of every form as resolutions you are going to support.

Then at install, place the appropriate version on the users' systems.

Or, you could just store the various versions in a Paradox table.

Then at install, and/or when resolution changes, place the appropriate version on the users' systems.
