zone alarm true vector problem

i get the following message in event viewer almost every time i start my pc.
"the descripition for event id 1 in source(true vector service) cannot be found."
is there something wrong? ive uninstalled ZA and reinstalled. doesnt fix.
any thoughts?

Make sure you have the XP "compliant" version of Zone Alarm installed. Make sure the RPC Service is set to start automatically. Also, disable Zone Alarm's autostart feature, reboot and see if the log entry is still created.

i disabled the auto start. i didnt know what RPC Service was and couldnt find it(could you explain). then rebooted. no message in log.
i do have the xp compliant version apparently.

I had the same problem...

In my case it turned out to be a virus which actually disabled my AV sofwtware and disabled Zone alarm in the way you described...

The virus was Klez-G.

i wrote tech services at ZA and they sent me instructions on how to completely uninstall it. then reinstalled. so far everything looks good! we will see.
