Zone Alarm Security Suite - isafe.exe

I'm trying to free up a few system resources and have disabled the real-time virus protection in ZASS.

Isafe.exe is still running. Does anyone know what this does and how/if it can be safely disabled?

isafe.exe is a part of Etrust AV which is also used by Zone Labs Internet Security. You should not end this process for any reason. This handles the scanning of emails for viruses and possibly some automatic updates.
