Hello, please help. I want to find a way to determin what a persons +4 digits zip code is, i have a zip code database that has the 5 digits, longitude and latitude, also city, state, prov. I am not sure if that will be of use or not. But if not i would like to know where to get data i can use.

I want to be able to find the 4 digits after a user enters there address in the following format...

John Henery
3209 Rosbud Drive
Seattle, WA 98060

Can anyone help? Again i want the data if i need more than i have. (where to get it)
and i want the formula on how to calculate it, and even sample code if you have it.

Thanks...

I think you need to purchase a database that has the ZIP+4 values in it.

Purchasing is one option, but relies on getting regular updates of the zipcodes to keep the database upp to date.

I would also look into the existance of a web-service to do this. Im sure there will be some wise business offering this service for a small annual fee.

...if it works dont mess with it

Billsecond,
How many records are you looking to Zip4?

I'm in the Direct Mail industry and we regularly provide this type of service for customer data files we are going to presort and mail. However, this process(ACE) also alters Addr3(if exists), Addr2, Addr1, City, State, and Zip. Meaning, if what was entered isn't what the P.O. has on file, then it will be changed. There is an alternative, you could have it Zip4'd and then simply update only your Zip4 column within the table. Simple stuff, it's just depends on whether you're willing to release your datatable.
Another alternative is to seek out a Web based solution, as suggested by SquekinSweep. I would recommend "Anchor Computer." We use there services for National Change of Address(NCOA) which can append new columns to your table and flag the records altered. I'm not sure what pricing would be for a one time processing?

Lastly, if it's merely a handful, or just a couple at a time. I'd suggest the USPS.com site and look for the link. That's what I do when the need is minimal.

Hope this helps,
David
