Zero Cisco experience

Hello all,

I'm trying to learn a little Cisco. I have aquired a Cisco 2811 router, I'm able to connect thru the console port but only get to ROMMON prompt. It appears there is nothing on the Flash card and I cant get past the ROMMON prompt. Is there anything I can do?

It could be that your router has the wrong confreg setting (this is where it says where the router should boot from.

Try:

#Once the Rommon1> prompt appears, enter this command:

confreg 0x2142


#Type reset.

If that doesn't work there is really no ios on the flash. In that case follow the following document to upload a ios via Xmodem.
