I'm new to desktop policies. I did recently attend a class on Zenworks 3.2 and overall it was excellent. Unfortunately, we didn't spend a lot of time on policies. We were shown how to create basic ones to push a specific wallpaper or something along those lines. I also remember that the one biggest gotcha is to first create a policy for your admin user that counteracts policies you give to your regular users.

With that said, here's the most important goal I would like to accomplish in our Win 95/98 environment:

Prevent users from installing software. If this can't be done because of Windows lack of security, can it be made more difficult by removing other items like the run command, auto run from the cd drive, etc?

I'd like to get some feedback from you guys on what policies you typically implement in a Win 95/98 environment.

The best policy to check out for this is a User Policy. Create a policy package in NetWare Administrator and choose a Win95-98 User Package.

Once created, enable the "95 User System Policies" policy. Go into the details and check out the options you can select. You can do quite a bit to restrict the users with this so I would suggest assigning the package to one user and using that as a test so when you configure options you can test with this user. -----------------------------------------------------
