We are trying to set-up a Zebra 105se to print from Windows program. However the printer is configured for a serial connection.

So far we have been unable to get any communications from Windows to the Printer. We are able to add the printer, install driver, configure the COM port etc, but nothing that will actually interact with the printer. In each case where something needed to communicate we get an error that COM port is unavailable, or something similar. That is except for when we try to print.

When we print the job appears to go normally...enters the queue, prints and clears from the queue. However it never actually goes to the printer.

Looking through the Threads it appears this may be an conflict between the Windows printer driver and the serial COM port connection. We are running Windows 2000.

Does anyone else have any ideas? Also if it is due to a conflict, what can be done to correct or work around the problem? We have no systems older than Win 2000. We also have to use a printer driver because all of the programs we will be printing from use the printer driver.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Suggest a indicator device available at computer stores that show the activities on the communication line. That way you can see whether data is really going out. Probably will need 9/25 adapters on both ends as most computers now come with 9 pin serial connectors.

You could also hook up another machine as a terminal and use it as a temporary dump device to see what is being sent.

Possible problems are handshaking and baud rates.
