CA
Win98SE network of 3 machines.
No passwords on shares on the involved machines except for one shared folder on machine 2.
Connected by hub.

To facilitate security the client turns Zonealarm on before connecting to the internet to get the company e-mail. Standard dial up connection is used.

Once the connection is terminated, Zonealarm is turned off to restore access to the network. Task manager is checked to make sure nothing is running.

It is configured so that the connected machine is unavailable to the network while on the internet....eventually there will be a router or webramp, but it is not put together yet.

After ZA is turned off, another machine on the network is not able to print to the dot matrix printer on the first machine. All of the other network programs and shares function fine. Printing from the affected machine to a third machine's printers produces no errors.

When attempting to troubleshoot the error, (reinstall/connect the printer) the system reports that the printer is off, when in fact it is not. The problem is corrected as soon as the second machine is rebooted, but that is a workaround and not a solution.

They are using the free version currently.

Have done some searching, but I am not finding anything that addresses this. Thanks in advance for any time you spend helping out...

What version are you using may have to go back to an earlier version.

This was an old post....have had to quote a different product or the full version of ZA. Thanks for the offer of help..
If you know of any issues that are confirmed that might affect this..please post them for future reference.

Thanks!
