Is this in the right forum? Hope so..

I got a Lexmark Z33 printer who's not working.
I followed the troubleshooting guide but i'm all out of ideas now.
I've:
-Checked the cables. (USB, tested in both holes wich i know both work for my webcam)
-Installed, uninstalled and re-installed drivers. (Downloaded newest)
-Checked settings, ink, paper or if anything's wrong with the printer..but..nothing.

When i installed the drivers it gave a list of possible ways the printer could be connected.
COM-1, COM-2, FILE(creates a file, but doesent print) and LPT1. None of these worked and i coulden't find USB.
I checked the troubleshooting and it said the USB should be recognised automaticly, but since it's not working that cant be true.

My brother used this printer a couple of months ago. For him it was just plug, install drivers and then print. No problems at all.

Anyone got a clue what could be wrong?

Make sure the printer drivers are the correct ones for USB and that USB has no errors in the device manager.

It's the right drivers and it's the same ones that my brother used.

And what is the device manager? I'm using a different languiage windows and i'm not all that good at computers.
The usb's are working, atleast with my webcam.

device manager go to desktop right click on my computer properties then hardware tab then device manager under the usb header there should be either nothing or anything else plugged into USB, if there is more remove it, it may be blocking installation.
Now restart pc and then plug in printer plug and play should come up when it asks for drivers select have disk and give the PC the drivers, it should then configure itself.
Otherwise go to Lexmark website and download the most up to date drivers and makes sure you get the right OS version.
LExmark to me have always been a pain through USB (which now is all they com through) good Luck

When i check that it says:
USB Root Hub
USB Root Hub
Via Tech 3038 PCI to USB Universal Host Controller
Via Tech 3038 PCI to USB Universal Host Controller

Only my printer is in right now.
Why are there 4 things and what is that "universal host controller"?

I'm sorry if i'm asking stupid questions, i'm not good at this and my english isn't perfect eather...

just leave what is there already you seem to have PCI card with USB's on it instead of directly on the motherboard, which is no problem.

I cant understand why its not working actually check add/remove programs and remove any lexmark entrys
also do a search on the pc for lexmark then remove all
Then restart pc
Then plug in printer
When asked for drivers click on have disk and use the lexmark drivers you have
If it still dosnt work it might be you have a faulty PCI card working as a USB. Which may not mean much to you.

Are there any ? marks by any of the USB devices in device manager if there is i would try removing these.

Sorry but i cant be of more help

Hello HiyaTiya;
Firstly;
You don't have an expansion card (from what I see)
That VIA info is mobo, and the controller is through the PCI BUS(this is Normal)
You should only have One of each
USB Root Hub
Via Tech 3038 PCI to USB Universal Host Controller
(i can't say which instances to remove, without further info under each settings tab there)
Usually the printer get connected to the LPT1 port.., not COM
Check your BIOS settings for enabling the Printer Port and set it to ECP (or USB there, if offered)....also look for Legacy USB, and enable it.
You also need the correct "Language" version if the driver from Lexmark i would think
Download and run this small, free utility
