Dear All,

USING: BO Crystal Reports XI-R2 11.5 and Oracle 8i
------

I have been asked for a dashboard to show Sales Reps performance in a YTD and MTD "view" compared against Budget.

Here is the Desired Output:
---------------------------

SALES_REP_X YTD_NET_SALES YTD_BUDGET
(and the same thing again for MTD)

I have to do the above for about 30 Sales Reps. It'll be pretty easy if I display it in a table. But I would like it to be graphical, perhaps a bar graph for the YTD and MTD for each Sales Rep. And due to screen real estate I don't think I can properly fit 30x2=60 bar graphs in a dashboard. So, what I would like to do is have a list of the Sales Reps in a main report. Next to that list I will have a "box" which will be a "linked sub-report". Then every time you click on one of those Sales Reps a graph appears in that "box".

Will this work using Linked Sub Reports? Is this the right path? Should I be aware of anything else?

Your advise and heads up is appreciated.

Thanks,
Mirogak

You can certainly do it that way.

As for having room, of course you have room to do this by creating the graphs realtime, they will just display on subsequent pages.

If you really want to conserve space consider building out a report which groups on a formula of:

if left({table.salesrep},1) < "N" then
1
else
2

Then place the graph in the group footer and allow it to display numerous sales reps per graph.

There are other ways you might minimize space as well, such as graphs alongside each other, since each salesreps graph will only be 2 bars.

synapsevampire!

I will actually be displaying a little more info than I mentioned above.

I'll be showing actual YTD amounts, budgeted amounts, and the adjusted budgeted amounts. And I will be doing that for Gross, Return and Net.

Anyhow, I am curious about your second option "grouping on that formula". I looked up the "left" function, and from what I can gather from your solution is that it will create two graphs, one with all the Sales Reps whose names start with alphabets preceding "N" and the other vice-versa.

Is that accurate?

Thanks,

Mirogak

Correct, that way you can save space by combining them, and of course you can break it down further by making more breaks, or perhaps by region, or....
