Any ideas on this one? I have quite a few AIX 4.3.3 boxes set up using NIS. One problem - I can't get yppasswd working on clients. I have the yppasswdd daemon running on the NIS server but when I try to enter "yppasswd joe" on a client it prompts me for the NIS passwd - I enter the password and it immed tell me that I have a NIS password mismatch.

Funny thing though - the doc's indicate that it will ask me for the new password before verifing the old.

I can change the password on the NIS server and make the maps - that works fine.

Any IDEAS??

I presume of course that you have set up the NIS clients to be just that, did you type in the correct domainname? What output do you get from a ypcat command? Have the maps been pushed as well as made?
