Previous installation of BE 9.1 gave too many problems. I decided to reinstall Win 3000 Server and BE 9.1 SP5. I have want to do an inventory or quick erase on a tape/slot i get the following error: 0xa0008101 - Invalid Physical Volume Library Argument.
Use a SpectraLogic tape library and Sony SDX 900V tape drive with AIT 4 tapes. Troubleshoot this issue several times but still no luck. I have no backups for days now.

Hi,

are you using the BE Tape device driver for that library?

Try this:

1. Disable device in BE
2. delete device
3. stop all BE services with service manager
4. Run 'C:\program files\veritas\backup exec\nt\tapeinst.exe file' and remove all drivers
5. Reboot server
5. Run 'C:\program files\veritas\backup exec\nt\tapeinst.exe file' again to install all BE drivers
6. Reboot

A bit knowledge of BE is recommended.

No guarantee!

Good luck!

Regards

I tried that already. Run an inventory few minutes ago and got: "a000821e - Library error - incompatible storage media detected in robotic library"

Are you positive you have an AIT4 tape in there? In BE, under the Drive properties, is the correct cartridge (AIT 4) selected?

There is AIT 4 tapes in the library, but properties of tape drive shows nothing under media types.
