I've searched high and low for an answer, tried dozens of fixes and still am stumped. Looking for more ideas.

When I attempt to connect to the Windows Update Site I'm faced with the "Your security settings do not allow Web sites to use ActiveX controls installed on your computer. This page may not display correctly".

I've made the changes to security tabs in Internet Options.

I've made the registry hacks to the HKLM & HKCU internet settings/zones to manually set to low.

I've re-registered Dll's recommended by M$.

I've uninstalled my virus scanning software and M$ Office

I've checked to make sure GPO's are not affecting the way IE operates.

I've pulled out all my hair and am now bald.

Here's my environment:

Windows Server 2003 SP1
SQL 2000 SP3 8.00.760
IE6 SP1

Any further insight will be more than helpful.

Try going to Start -> Setting -> Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs -> Add/Remove Windows Components -> double-click on "Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration" -> uncheck "For administrators groups so that the enhancements are not applied to administrators. Click OK, Click Next, Click Finished...
