Hi All,

This problem relates to Presentation Server 4.

Last night i service packed one of the 2003 servers (to SP1)in my farm, which caused a few problems in the fact that although the servers still were listening on 1494, they would not let anyone log in.

I altered the SMA service to run with the local account and also the citrix print agent, and that seems to have done the job but now whenever anyone logs in (admin or user) you get 'You do not have permission to use the selected printer' message when you go to file>print.

I have double checked my policy in Management console and all the printing options have been enabled for autocreation, and use native drive, and use universal driver if native drive is not found etc etc...

I have given users/admin modify rights to the c:\windows\system32\spool\printers folder on the servers also.

But the problem still persists. Can anyone help !?

Thanks in advance !

Steve

There is somewhere a Citrix paper, what you have to do after you install w2k3 SP1. (as far as I remember there is a fix, or something that you have to install on citrix after you apply SP1 of 2003 winsrv)

see:

SP1 has new GPO group policy options, that may override citrix policy settings.

Thanks for the reply balage0 :)

I think i have solved my problem. While i was playing last night i deleted the ica-tcp listener from terminal services configuration. i recreated it but it did not add back in the local Ctx_SmaUser account (properties of listener\permissions tab). So i added it back in and granted it Query Information and Virtual Channels rights only.

When i logged back in it appeared to suppress the permissions error message. Before this problem the printers would not autocreate and this was the Citrix Print Manager - it had reverted to the Ctx_SmaUser account for some reason. I changed it to the local system account and restarted the service and that fixed that problem also.

SP1 for 2003 Server seems to screw with the accounts/services of citrix, and i had to alter 3 or 4 different aspects on top of the above before the server was back and running normally. I'm reluctant to upgrade the 2nd server in the farm now after the grief i have had but it has to be done to correct a couple of problems i have... At least i'll know for sure if this is te fix i was after.

Thanks !

Steve
