What is the led beside the lan ports used for

Soopa Doopa Intergalactic IP Office installation mechanic and configuration corruptor from way back.

The orange light indicates conection speed (on = 100Mbps)
the green light indicated data - on= connected, flashing = data transfer.

and the adjacent yellow LED on 403 units is supposedly for LAN collisions.

Useful: On any ethernet their will always be some collisions for occasional flickering is not a problem.

Being frequently lit indicates a problem - the hub either getting swamped by traffic or something sitting down to long a cable from the hub.
