First off you guys have been so helpful over the years and thank you in advance.. Just wanted to see if you could point me in right direction

We just upgraded to Sql 7.6.400b from Progression 7.5.100 and doing inventory for the first time with the new Macola.

What I need to know how to do is update inventory from our bar code guns?

Just need to know how to zero inventory then replace with numbers pulled from guns. See raw data pulled from guns below. Is there a way in SQL to replace the inventory numbers with what we pulled from the guns or is it possible to do it within Macola?

location-part# Quantity
I01B202-RC07GF180J 04400
I01B202-RC07GF200J 01200
I01B202-RC07GF4R7J 04600
I01B202-RC07GF5R6J 04200
I01B202-RC07GF8R2J 04700
I01B202-RC07GF6R8J 00000

What barcode / WMS inventory system are you using ? Exact WMS, scanco or other. If you are looking to import a file, that would normaly be the job of the BarCode for distribution module.
I think every one will need more information you better answer the question.

I dont think we have a barcode /WMS inventory system.. other than a little utility that convert the raw bar code scans from our MARS barcode scanners into a format like this:

C 1000 000000010.0000 LB-1234-B10 WH
C 1001 000000003.0000 LB-1234-B12 WH
C 1002 000000063.0000 LB-1234-B13 WH
C 1003 000000010.0000 LB-1234-B14-1 WH
C 1004 000000006.0000 LB-1234-B14-2 WH
C 1005 000000067.0000 LB-1234-B45 WH
C 1006 000000000.0000 LB-1500-B12 WH

I just want to know how to get this into Macola??

Without a WMS/Bar code system, you have 2 choices:

1) Manually key it in
2) Write a program to take this raw data and append it to Macola in the proper table, in this case imtagfil_sql (this assumes you actually generated tags in Macola with either the physical or cycle count process)

Also question: Do you have serial, lot or multibin items?

Did you upload data in 7.5.100 if so how?

As far as I am a wear there is no easy way to do this with a straight SQL query

I have written a program to do this, we use serial lots and that makes the program a whole lot more complex, as you have to allow for the fact that users enter/select the wrong serial lot numbers from time to time and you will need to create serial lot records.

I down load barcode scanners to text files join them if/as required and then import the file into my program. Validate the data and then update the IMTAGFIL_SQL (it is easier to add extra tags to the cycle count when you run it than trying to create them later, you can clean them up before uploading the tag file ).

Ok to answer a few questions we have a multibin system I guess because we have same item located in different locations for example Item 1 is kept in stock and then an overstock area in the top of our warehouse. I could solve this issue by fixing it in Excel Before importing

And yes we did upload to Macola in the last version but we did it with a custom program written by our Rep but I noticed that there is a program already there that does this correct? Under Barcode-> trx -> immport Physical count tags I just dont understand why its not letting me create a Batch ID

Thanks

The Bar Code module in Macola does not require you to create a batch ID. The Batch ID is created in IM when you create cycle or physical count tags. Did you do this?

Please clarify the bin situation. You used the word "location" in your description of it, and locations are not the same as bins. If you are unsure, go to IM->Maintain->Bin Master, and see if there are any records in there.

Back to the barcode import, if you do indeed own the bar code module, you can import the counts under BC->Trx->Import->Physical Count Tags. Your text file must EXACTLY match the specifications on the exact portal and the file must be properly named, and in the proper directory.

Please see document 08.862.317 for the file specs.
