Yahoo messenger and video link

When using Yahoo messenger to have a voice and video link, after a time (20 min), the software 'hangs' completely. The only way out is to turn off the PC. Subsequently it lasts for a shorter and shorter time.
I use a cable broadband connection to NTL:
Is there better software, is it Yahoo etc.
