Ive read the documentation but am a little unclear regarding YA and the Unified Communicator.
Firstly has Unified Communicator replaced YA?
Secondly reading the UC overview it says its supported from rel 9 (3300)...... is this correct?

Basically I have a 3300 on release 7 and they require a softphone.....can I look at UC or do I need ya???

cheers

UC is basically an upgrade of YA (call it YA 6). It's just a name change at a certain level.

R7, you'd want to look at upgrading soon anyway. But yes you need to get YA, but i think best solution would be to upgrade 3300.

I agree with Matt. Upgrade the 3300 to release 9. Mitel is no longer supporting release 7, or will soon stop, as they only support 2 previous revisions.

There are many bug fixes and feature enhancements from release 7 to release 9.

Send me a personal message with your email address and I will send you a feature comparison.

thanks for the feedback.
The dilema i have is its a large site and they dont experience any problems, you know they saying "if its not broken, dont fix it".......................thus why im reluctant to upgrade.

Think initially ill throw YA in non the trial and see how it goes

thanks again

Keep in mind SIP is an evolving protocol. So as SIP becomes more and more prevelant in the future, I wouldnt expect your system to work bug free with SIP devices and trunks.

When you do decide to purchase software assurance again, it wont be as easy as just buying it this year and then not buying it again for a few years. When you let your software assurance lapse, you will usually have to pay a little extra for the years you didnt purchase it.
