I'm working from home this next week and wanted to setup a YA softphone so I can use it over a VPN. Has anyone set one up in the past?

I would like to use my deskphone ext as a softphone when I've got YA open, then desk phone all the other times. Is that possible? If so what 3300 programming do I need to do as it's not working for me just having YA programmed with my softphone ext?

Thanks in advance

Hi, you need a teleworker and a YA pro license.

You register the YA softphone via the telworker.

When you logged in as far as I can remember it diverts your normal ext to the softphone (as long as they are both programmed up on the YA server).

Thanks

Kenny

You need a YA server which in fact manages YA licenses. YA cannot be configured as your desk extension, however you can have deskphone presence on your YA. So it will ring on it but when you answer the remote party will see that you are on softphone extension.

I may suggest to use a SIP phone such as X-Lite. In this case you need to buy a single SIP license. It does not suppport multicall, so you will have to enable/disable call forwarding to the soft phone manually on the deskphone or using web interface on 3300

Would I need to use teleworker even though I'm working over a vpn? So I program my deskphone and softphone ext on the YA server as the same number, then remotely start YA with softphone selected on startup?

Thanks

yeah softphone over VPN is supported. Do you have access to the YA Admin Guide? There's a section in there about it

Yep got the admin guide although I was unclear of what programming needs doing on the 3300... If any??

I think you cannot have the same number for YA softphone as your deskphone.

So if I create a softphone ext of 1234 what do I program 1234 as on the 3330?

Cheers

The softphone supports key system keys, so slapin is part right, you can't "Hot Desk" into a softphone. So the softphone has it's own DN. Then in the Multiline set key assignment of the Softphone DN go and add a key system key of your desk phone. Then when the desk phone rings the softphone rings, and tells you which line it;'s coming in on.

You can even have distingishing ring tones for different line appearances in the softphone

No extra config required on the 3300 for VPN, because the YA server acts as a proxy, so all you need to have access to through the VPN is the YA server

So do I just program the 1234 softphone as a normal style 5220 ext??

Thanks for all the help chaps

It is actually has YA phone type in the system.
6600 YA PRO type

Sorry, I'm known for unpatience and incomplete answers :)

Its great thanks. I'ver programmed 1234 as a 6600 YA Pro on the 3300, then programmed 1234 as my softphone ext, although when I open YA and try and start a call nothing happens. Am I missing something major?? I'm a YA n00b so please bear with me!

Thanks

Are you using YA Pro or Lite?

Go to maitenance and diagnostic on 3300, in IP phones section check out status of your 1234 extension. Is it In Service?

what version YA are you on? As of V5 you need to program the softphone as an "APP Port" not 6600 YA Pro.

YA Pro v5. I've left the office so I'll test this first thing in the morning. Thanks for all the help so far guys!!

Thank you so much guys, it's really helped!!

Works a treat.
