Hi all,
I need help or more information on Why I can't run the configuration and system admin files from the system console on xwindows, while I can run it from my desktop without any problems???

Did you run xhost from the server to tell the server to accept xwindows connections?

The software required `Windows 95 or better', so I installed Linux.

The XWindows is running fine from all the machines as well as the console....BUT....it is the system-admin applications that do not run from the console terminal, but they run from any other terminal.
It is like you can't run sys-admin applications (Disk configurator, Network confiration...etc) from the console terminal...!!!

What OS is it? Linux, Solaris, AIX, HP-UX etc ...? It could be a permissions problem, or if you're running NIS you might make sure that you don't have root or a UID 0 user identified in your /var/yp/passwd mapfile.

I bet this is the same question from the "DEC (Compaq): DIGITAL UNIX" Forum.

I also bet the problem is this file! :)

/etc/.AM_is_running.
It's the lock file for when Account Manager crashes.

L8ter! Life is good!, live it?
