Its been a while since I used those and so dont remember. Can anyone recommend good XWindows applications that I can use from a windows 2000 server to connect to RH9.
Thanks.

Of course, there are tons of evaluation trail verions out there. But I am looking for free and robust ones.
Thanks.

or try cygwin!!

in fact linuxtsc is only a front-end for cygwin.

You could also use Hummingbird X-Server on your windows system. This will allow you to ssh into your Redhat server and with X11 Forwarding enabled, send all gui based applications back to the windows server. I have used this for many years and find it to be an excellent means of remote X windows management. You are also tunneling over a secure means, so no MITM issues.

dirtyhat: the problem with Hummingbird X-Server is the price. the software that we posted (flugh and me) are for free. Take a look to them.

Cheers.

I use VNC in my corporate environment. Happy with it.

VNC doesn't do quite the same thing. Cygwin, XWin32 (StarNet) and the like do X11 communication that allow you to open windows on the remote window (not take over the real desktop as if you were sitting in front of it). Cygwin is the best way to go, XWin32 works wonders and is smaller (but costs money and is closed source)... Cygwin can also run native Linux program on the window box (as it is an emulator after all).

You can set up tightvnc to spawn new sessions on your X server. I have done this. When you logon, it creates a new session, when you logoff, the session is terminated. It isn't direct-control as I can start several logins with different resolutions.
