I have the Cisco vpn client running in a linux environment but once connected to the vpn the window sits there looking ugly and i by mistake close it now and then ,breaking my tunnel.

I would like to use xterm but get it to run minimized, there is a shade option on the bar at the top which hides everything within the window but leave the window visible , which is great but can this be automated?

and yes have read the man pages but never found anything useful.

that didnt work for me , however i used this instead

rxvt -geometry 35+0+0+0 -title shell -e xcalc

simply displays the window in the top left corner.

tjbradford,

I just tried "xterm -iconic" on my laptop running Gnome, and on my desktop running FVWM2. The iconic switch works under FVWM2, but not under Gnome.
