I'm sure this is a simple question for an expert ...

I want to set the colour of my X root window, and it seems that [tt]xsetroot -solid [/tt]colour is the command to use. I know I can use colour names like "darkblue", but how would I specify a particular RGB combination, like red 12, green 34, blue 56?

Thanks.

Check out this link:

It says to use: [tt]xsetroot -solid "#123456"[/tt]

I can't make it do anything for me, suspecting that Gnome is managing the background settings and not recognizing the settings change.
