Hi, i've an ibm xseries 330 server.
During the boot phase i received the message: "Scsi bios not found". I'm not able to see my hard disk :(
I searched in the ibm site but i haven't found any solution.
Do you know how i can configure my hard disk?

bye
Fred

SCSI bios not found is a normal message.

How was your hard drives configured? raid controller? onboard SCSI?

Boot to ctrl-A and see if the drive is on the onboard controller.

i don't know the configuration... the strange thing is that when i press ctrl+a i cannot see the bus 2 (where the diagnostics let me to see the hard drives) but the scanning is made only on bus 1 where none hard disk were found.

Was this previously working?

Do you see a ctrl-i option?

i suppose that previously worked.. however yes, i see a ctrl+i option..

Hard drives are on a raid controller then. Go into the ctrl-i and view controller status. Drives are probably either DDD or RDY.

and then?? .. what do you have to do?

Hard to say what you would do next. I dont know what the status of the drives are. Also dont know if this is supppose to have an operating system on it or what.

Did you just get this machine? was it working then went down on you and now it does not boot?

There is a lot if info you are not providing so it makes it very hard to give you any help.

Oh yeah sorry... hard disks are empty and i'd like to install windows 2000 server. When i try to install the installer exits because it doesn't find any drive.
When i press ctrl+i i'm able to see that the hard disks drive are RDY but not configured because there is the message: "No logical volume found". There isn't much thing that is possible to do with this software... How can i create a volume to install something?? is it necessary any cd from ibm like UpdateXpress to initialize hard disk?? ... termination scsi should be correct. there is only a controller with only a port and only a cable that connect either hard drives to the controller. i have see no jumpers for the configuration.

OK now we are getting somewhere. Here is what you need to do.

Download and burn the servraid manager support CD.

Boot to that CD and configure your array. Steps are pretty straight forward. If the controller needs updated go ahead and update it. Information on Raid Arrays is in the books folder on that CD.

Once your array is configured you can install your OS.

You will need the device driver. You can create it with the CD you made for the raid. Look in the books folder on that CD for DEVDRV.PDF it will tell you how to make the driver diskette.

Boot to your OS CD and press F6 when prompted at the bottom of the screen and later it will asked for the driver diskette.

I tried to update the rom but i received this error message:
