Just got a Mac XserverG5 with a 2nd hard drive. I've spent 2 days totally frustrated trying to manage this server remotely (the xserverG5 has no video connection) with Apples server apps and OSX10.3. What is the trick to properly sharing folders from a second HD? I'm new to Mac OSX server (and Mac OSX). So far I must say the documention is terrible as it is clearly geared toward standalone servers, not rack mounted monitor-less systems.

All I want is a group of folders to be shared (with different permissions) from the second HD and both Macs and PCs to access them.

Is there any way for a Mac os 7.5 or 7.6 to connect to a Mac OSX 10.3 server or can only later OS's connect?

You'll probably do better going to the Apple forums.

Just go to Apple.com click support and select servers, you can check on Xserve and OSX Server. You'll find the link to the forums on the lewer left of the appropriate page.

Apple alos offers extensive documentation in downladable pdfs - from the appropriate support pages. If you're new to OSX and Server, it might behoove yu do download and print some of these - for easier reference.

Get Apple Remote Desktop first.
Then use Workgroup Manager in Utilities to create the groups and share the folders to those groups.
