Anyone have experience with associative dimensions going wacky in a drawing with many xrefs? We have organized a project so that all of the drawing geometry are contained in several separate drawings which are xref'd into a final "plotting" drawing where dimensions and annotations are added. On a few of these "Plotting" drawings when opened after having had dimensions added, the dimensions are all over the place, attached to arbitrary objects and at odd angles etc.. We're on ACAD 2002. Should we not use truly "associative", (dimassoc=2), dimensions.

Thanks

Just a check, is the original xref being altered (entities changed or moved) without the xref-into drawing being involved. I do not think the associativity of an xref dimensioned dwg is "complete" in 2002. I am not sure if 2004 is any better though. You may have to drag the nodes around to meet their original points again.

Check the dim settings on the dwg that you are plotting from
You could be having a conflict if you are bringing in many x-refs that contain the same named dim styles....
