When i use XP's built in CD burning feature - in what format does the CD get burned. Is it an ISO format that will be readable by multiple OS's or is it in a proprietary MS format?

it should be readable by most machines--nothing (too) proprietary

cheers!

XP's burning utility (IMAPI) actually writes each session as "Track-at-Once" using the highly universal Joliet format.

The only thing stopping another PC from reading it isn't the OS. It's the CD-ROM reader. As long as it's not ancient (more than 7-8 years old), then it should have no problems reading the CD-R or CD-RW that you use in XP.
