Hello All,

I have been extremely frustrated with a recent upgrade from 9.1.1 to 10.4. I found that my model was the "ibook Dual USB" and bought an full install disk of 10.4 online. I tried to install the DVD and got this message:

"Startup Disk was unable to select the installl CD as the startup Disk(-2)"

After some research I tried to upgraded my firmware which I found was open, made sure my laptop was upgradable "which it was", and made sure my disk was the appropriate one... which it is. I am currently working with 9.2.2 and trying to upgrade to 10.4 and I am getting the same error.

I was reading a post in which a guy had the same problem as me and he mentioned XPostFacto4. I did some research and downloaded the application but I immediately ran into another problem....

When I start XPost Facto There are basically 2 boxes, this is what I see:

SELECT VOLUME: (Greyed Out)
ibook Harddrive
XPF 4 requires 10.2 or Later

SELECT CD: (not Greyed out)
Mac OS X 4 install DVD
Mac OS X 4 install CD

Now I was reading in the release notes that XPF 4 would update 9.2.2 to 10.4 "thats what its made for correct?" but I cant figure out for the life of me why the SELECT VOLUME selections are grey and 10.2 is required to run it??

Am i missing something..

Also on another note I am not to cheap to signup for XPF for help its just I don't want to sign up and find the product will not work at all. Ill register if I have a serious error during installation!

I can't really speak to the XPF thing, but lets rule out some easy things, can you mount other dvds? You state you are using a DVD for install and getting an error message about CD.

What happens when you put the disc in and reboot holding down the "c" key? Do you get the installer window?

Everything will be OK in the end.
If it's not OK, then it's not the end
