xp_test_mapi_profile - sql 2000 mail

The mapi profile exists on the server and the profile name is displayed on the SQl mail configuration.( combo box).

On click of the "Test" button of the SQl mail
i get the error messsage stated

error 18025: xp_test_mapi_profile: failed with mail error 0x80004005.

The setup is on WIN2K , SQL2K and Outlook 2K.
could anybody helpout on this ??????

Check the following.

1) Is Outlook 2000 installed on the server?

2) Which SQL Server service pack is installed? Is it the latest service pack?

3) Is Outlook the default mail program? Check under Internet Options | Programs. If Outlook is not the default mail program then set it as the default and restart SQL Server.

4) Have you restarted SQL Server since installing the Profile?

5) Have you reviewed knowledgebase article Q263556?
