i have winxp64 running on dual core athlon machine.
never had problems until now.

all of a sudden i can't boot the computer up.

when i press F8 - i can get to the screen to select
how to boot - safe, last working etc.. - but once
i select any one of the choices the next screen says:
"please select the operating system to start

windows professional xp 64 edition "

and then it just sits there no matter what i do ..

please someone ... help !!

i did ...

and this is what happens:

the cd starts the boot and gets to

"the setup is inspecting your computer's
hardware configuration ..."

and thats where it sits ... ..any ideas

please tell me that c: didn't croack ..

sounds drive related. have you checked all your connections to see if anything has possibly come loose? id look at the hdd first as it may be trying to check it but it cant so it just sits there waiting for it.
