Customer of mine set up a VPN connection on my laptop to connect to their system so I can make changes in their voicemail system and phone system. The problem I have now is that everytime I click a link or open IE it connects to the VPN automatically. It is using the Windows VPN connection. Is there a way to set it up and only connect when I want to, rather than automatically. If I use netscape everything works fine.

In your Internet Explorer, click tools, Internet Options, connections.

You should see the VPN settings on top and about mid window you will see three options. My guess is that it is selected at "always dial my default connection". Select never or only when no network available.

I'm pretty sure this will fix your issue.

Hummmm..... Interesting.

I'm not all that familliar with the Windows VPN, but my guess is that it is bound somehow to your TCPIP to launch everytime you make a request for something outside of your own network. Have you checked the VPN settings or your network configuration for anything that ressembles that?

Yeah I went through every option, was unable to make it stop. Deleted it reinstalled it. nothing worked.
