I am testing XP Pro for installation in our office. I want to be able to set up all the PC's with a similar desktop configuration that varies from the XP Pro default setting.
Here is the procedure that I followed:
1. Log on as a new user.
2. Make the configuration changes I want for all users. Then Log off.
3. Log back on as Administrator.
4. Go to Properties of My Computer.
5. Click on Advacned Tab, then on Settings in User Profiles Section.
6. Select the profile that you just created by logging on as the new user and Click Copy To.
7. In the Copy To box I put in :
%SYSTEMROOT%\Documents and Settings\Default User
8. Click on OK twice.
When I reboot and log in as a new user, I still get the XP Pro default desktop.
I should mention that I am using XP Pro logging in to a Novell Network and a Windows Domain.
Did I miss something? Any ideas
Thanks,
Jim
